And on Survival Tactics, where Joey and the late Capital STEEZ just share bars with amazing wordplay. Like how he raps on “Waves,” “Worried 'bout the tending fashions rather than ascendin' passion,” talking about how other rappers want to look stylish and cool while not putting heart into their lyrics. His music doesn’t sound like most others. Maybe he’s strayed away from that recently, but he still sounds damn good. Also, he’s rapped on beats you wouldn’t think a rapper like him would rap on, like the beat for the YBN Nahmir song “Bounce Out With That.” But, as I said earlier, what’s amazing is the fact that Joey still managed to create amazing music on boom-bap beats.
We’ve seen him collaborate with XXXTentacion on songs like “infinity (888)” and even a “King’s Dead” remix. He’s able to create different types of rap, he can sing a little, and isn’t afraid to experiment with his music. In my opinion, Joey is easily one of the best rappers of the new wave.
